About email format checking

Format checking is the fast, first-pass filter for a list of addresses: it confirms each one looks like a valid email — a local part, an @, and a domain with a real TLD — without contacting any mail server. It instantly catches stray text, missing @ symbols and domains with no dot.

What does the format checker do?
