What is a VMC?

A Verified Mark Certificate proves you own a trademarked logo. Mailbox providers like Gmail require it before displaying your BIMI logo.

What are the prerequisites for a VMC?

DMARC enforced at p=quarantine or p=reject, a valid BIMI record pointing to an SVG P/S logo over HTTPS, and a trademarked logo you can certify.

Why must DMARC be enforced first?

BIMI only applies to authenticated mail. Providers require DMARC at quarantine or reject so the logo cannot be attached to spoofed messages.

Can I get BIMI without a VMC?

Some providers show logos without one, but the major ones (including Gmail) require a VMC. For broad display, plan on obtaining a VMC.
